When Ali Dean went to prison, left behind two sons. Tariq trains to become a boxer, but his brother, Cesar, ends up on the streets dealing drugs. And while Ali is about to be released, even he may not be able to save his wayward son. The deeper Cesar gets into crime, the more important Ali's need to be a father to him becomes.

This Flemish sitcom is the first version (originally a single theatre play, later screen adaptations) of a classical Flemish story, rather like Laurel and Hardy, about two inseparable friends. Slisse is fat, wealthy, educated, his mate Cesar measly, poor and ignorant; anything they touch goes sour, so they frequently bicker, not in the least because Slisse must explain everything painstakingly to Cesar, who always gets the wrong end of the stick, but still they just can't do without each-other.

Kirill, a former student who was expelled from the capital's university, returns home to the province, but finds a once picturesque corner of the country in a deplorable state. A local factory is dumping waste into the river, protected forests are being cut down uncontrollably, and spontaneous landfills are proliferating around the city. The weak-willed elderly mayor turns a blind eye and dreams of resigning, handing over the election to a protege of businessman Zuev, the owner of the factory and the informal owner of the city. In order to save his hometown from corruption and environmental disaster, Kirill and his childhood friends decide to take an ambitious step: register a "green" movement, nominate their candidate for mayor and join the fight against a greedy competitor and the distrust of local residents.

The film tells the story of Mauricio Fernandez, mayor of the wealthiest municipality in Latin America, located in the North of Mexico. He presents himself as a polemical figure who takes justice into his own hands in order to "clean" his municipality of the drug cartels' presence. Mauricio is a key character to better understand the present situation in Mexico and through the unusual views of this politician, the audience will be a privileged witnesses of an scenario where political tasks and excessive violence mingle with one another.
